A breezy night that hummed the songs of the approaching festivities and carried in its embrace, lights from far and near. A night sky that darkened to let the lamps shine bright. Such was the aura at the ‘Midnight Market’ held at UB City.
The ardour of Diwali was seen brightly, with a light globe centered within the flea market that brought along with it knick-knacks and clothing for Diwali. Pots that lined the staircase were twined with strings of lights. A canopy of diyas(lamps) extended through the aisles. Candles burnt with fervour.
A long black crepe skirt that swayed in the wind accompanied with a white cage top that contrasted the undulating skirt, was my ensemble for the evening. The skirt had knee-high slits through which the breeze whistled through. I loved how free it made me feel! Something about feeling the fabric on your legs and hearing it move in the wind is so romantic.
The flea market had a bunch of stalls meandering from home decor to sarees, dresses to shoes, accessories to food!
We had the most delicious chicken shawarma, in authentic Mediterranean style!
We weren’t ceased to be amazed even while we were leaving. To see the fringes on this giant lantern sway in the magical breeze that touched all of us in different ways left us in awe. We walked over to the other side to get a good shot of this lantern, and ended up chatting with some auto drivers. They asked us if we would like to have some tea, and we cheered on some nice midnight tea, right from a street vendor who sold it from a hot flask on his cycle! It was a perfect ending indeed, even though I burnt my tongue by drinking it when it was too hot! 😛
